PAUL Carden was more than happy with the workout his Warrington Town side got against Accrington Stanley this evening.
Yellows played out a goalless draw with their League One visitors at Cantilever Park in their third pre-season friendly.
> Yellows draw with Football League opposition
With both sides at different stages of their pre-season campaigns, Carden was pleased with how his side competed against professional opposition.
“The first 10 minutes were quick-paced – neither team really got hold of it,” he said.
“When both teams did get hold of it, it became a good game. It was good to watch.
“They are only a couple of weeks away from the start of their season and we’re only a few weeks into our pre-season.
“For us to compete and contest the game like that against a League One side was pleasing.
“It was the aim to make sure everybody played tonight because we will make changes again against Widnes.
“The big thing was not getting any injuries, but we’ve played well. We’ve created good chances and we’ve limited them.
“To be fair, you could probably say there was more action in their goalmouth than ours.”
