AT present, Steve Price says he “could not imagine” Kevin Brown or Stefan Ratchford playing in Saturday’s Challenge Cup semi-final.
Both players are recovering from long-term injuries – Ratchford has been missing for two months after having pectoral surgery while a ruptured Achilles tendon has kept Brown out for the entire season.
There was hope that one or both could return to face Hull FC at the University of Bolton Stadium, but that appears unlikely.
However, the news looks better for Ben Murdoch-Masila, who looks set to return after minor ankle surgery
“I couldn’t imagine either of them (Brown and Ratchford) playing if the game was tomorrow,” Price said.
“Benny Murds – we’re very hopeful of getting him back.
“He did some rehab running at the back end of last week so hopefully he’ll be in good shape for this weekend.”
Price also confirmed what has kept Ben Westwood out of contention in recent weeks.
“Bennie had a bit of a calf injury. He’s been in rehab for the past couple of weeks,” he said.
“He’s another one who’s getting close also.”
