NOW their pre-season campaign is underway, Warrington Town’s players can expect their game minutes to gradually increase.

Yellows face two more friendly games this week – they visit Wythenshawe Town today, kick off 1pm, before League One side Accrington Stanley come to Cantilever Park on Monday, kick off 7.30pm.

A 7-0 victory at Skelmersdale United got Town off to a great start, with every squad member playing 45 minutes with the exception of Mitch Duggan, who completed the full match.

Left-back Louis Barnes – Yellows’ latest signing having joined from Nantwich – played in the first half while fellow additions Scott Sephton and Alex Byrne came off the bench after the break along with several trialists.

“It’s been good for the new lads to get the shirt on with the guys who were here last year,” assistant manager Mark Beesley said.

“Now they’ve got a bit of an idea of how we work in a game so we can start to get that continuity in our play.

“At this stage though, it is all about building fitness. Even after the games we’ll be doing a bit of running.

“You’re always going to get a bit of rustiness in the first game back but we moved the ball round really well at times.

“Saturday will be something similar in terms of minutes but we’ll start to step it up from the Accrington game on Monday.”
