IN what was their first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2019/20, Warrington Town ran out impressive victors.

North West Counties League outfit Skelmersdale United were easily dispatched at JMO Sportspark, with strikers Connor McCarthy and Josh Amis both scoring twice.

Jack Dunn and Tony Gray were also on the scoresheet for Town, for whom new signings Louis Barnes, Scott Sephton and Alex Byrne all featured.

Several trialists were introduced after the break and one of them got on the scoresheet, with Mitch Duggan the only player to complete 90 minutes.

"It's a good start to pre-season for us," assistant manager Mark Beesley said.

"It's the first chance for the lads to get some game time in. We pencilled everybody in for 45 minutes and there was only one who played any more.

"Getting a few goals as well is good for the confidence."

Town's next test comes on Saturday when they travel to Wythenshawe Town before League One side Accrington Stanley visit Cantilever Park on Monday evening.
