WARRINGTON Town have been looking for a left-back for most of the summer – and now they have one.

Former Nantwich man Louis Barnes has agreed to join Paul Carden’s side for the upcoming season having trained with the club through pre-season.

Barnes’ arrival fills the void left by the departures of Alex Whittle and Adam Hughes to Boston United and The New Saints respectively.

The 27-year-old made 28 appearances for the Dabbers last season having previously had spells at Stockport County, Northwich Victoria, Marine and Colwyn Bay among others.

Town fans may remember him being sent off for a second yellow card during Nantwich’s 4-1 defeat to Yellows in last season’s play-off semi-final.

Barnes is Warrington's third new signing this summer, joining winger Alex Byrne and midfielder Scott Sephton.

He is likely to be in the Yellows side for their first pre-season friendly at Skelmersdale United tonight, which kicks off at 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, fans are reminded to pre-order the club’s new replica kit by Monday, July 22, to guarantee delivery in time for the first game of the season against Morpeth Town on Saturday, August 18.
