THE Wire will be without co-captain Chris Hill for the next two matches after he was hit with a penalty notice by the RFL’s Match Review Panel.
It has been adjudged Hill’s 70th-minute contact on Mark Percival during Friday’s 21-10 defeat to St Helens constituted a “crusher tackle” and has been deemed of Grade C severity.
The panel determined Hill “used a part of body to bend or apply unnecessary pressure to the head/neck or spinal column” of Percival.
The incident was not penalised by referee Ben Thaler but Hill will now miss Saturday’s trip to London Broncos and the home game against Salford Red Devils on Friday.
Meanwhile, Jack Hughes has been handed a caution for the incident that saw him sin-binned during Friday’s game but will not face a ban.
Sitaleki Akauola’s third-minute carry that left Saints hooker Aaron Smith knocked out was also reviewed but the panel found the Tongan had no case to answer.
