THE Wire's hopes of finishing top of Super League are all but over after they lost a pulsating game against St Helens.

They now trail Saints by eight points after tries in the final 15 minutes from Mark Percival, Luke Thompson and Alex Walmsley.

Jake Mamo scored to set up a grandstand finish for Wire, for whom Declan Patton also kicked three penalties, but it was not to be.
