Leeds Rhinos Women 74 Warrington Wolves Women 0
WARRINGTON Wolves Women were on the wrong end of an emphatic scoreline as they bowed out of the Women’s Challenge Cup.
Holders Leeds Rhinos proved too much of a hurdle to overcome for Lee Westwood’s side as they were hammered in their quarter-final tie in what was their first game against Super League opposition.
Courtney Hill and Fran Goldthorp both ran in hat-tricks for the Rhinos, with Chloe Kerrigan and Hanna Butcher scoring twice to go with further tries from Sophie Robinson and Charlotte Booth.
Defeat ends a first ever adventure into the Challenge Cup for the Wire Women, who saw off Wigan St Patricks and Barrow Island to get to this stage.
They must now refocus their efforts on promotion from the Women’s Championship, though they are not scheduled for league action again until Sunday, July 21, when they welcome Huddersfield Giants to Victoria Park.
Wolves Women: Sammy Simpson; Sophie Cowle, Amy Daniels, Sally Conyers, Michelle Davis; Terri Allen, Meg Garvey; Shez McCartney, Danielle Bound, Gill Capper, Roxy Murdoch, Rowanne Smalley, Charlotte Hill. Subs: Keira McCosh, Bex Wilson, Ellie Jelves, Jen Pickersgill, Meg Moore, Beth Cox
