STEVE Price thought his Warrington Wolves side made “a lot of positive steps” during their victory over Wakefield Trinity.

The Wire recovered from conceding a try in the game’s first minute to run out convincing 30-6 victors at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Ben Currie, Josh Charnley and Mike Cooper tries gave them control before the break – an advantage that was built upon in the second half by Blake Austin and Jack Johnson.

Price hailed his side’s attack as “much better” and also noted a vast improvement in his side’s discipline as they gave away only three penalties in the whole game.

“We showed a much better attitude,” he said.

“We scored 30 points which is pleasing, as was keeping them scoreless for 79 minutes.

“Our attack looked much better and we didn’t compound it with errors and penalties.

> Tries and action as Wire get back on track

“I think we only gave away three penalties for the whole game – a big improvement from where we’ve been.

“It’s been a while since we’ve won a penalty count. We know we need to keep improving on that but there were a lot of positive steps taken tonight.”

Trinity loaded their pack with power, with second rower Jordan Crowther named at hooker and powerhouses Pauli Pauli and David Fifita lining up in the back row.

However, Price hailed his side for coping largely with the visitors’ big guns.

“When they named Crowther at nine, they set the marker down that they were going to go big,” he said.

“They did that but we were really good defensively and we overpowered them in the end.

“We could have been more convincing but we’re heading in the right direction.”
