WIRE boss Steve Price says his side should have been good enough to win at Hull KR on Saturday afternoon.

The Wire lost to a last gasp Ryan Shaw conversion after Adam Quinlan, playing for the first time in 2019 for the Robins, had scored in the corner.

It gave Hull KR a 16-14 win in a match Warrington had lead for long periods thanks to tries from Bryson Goodwin and Josh Charnley.

But he said it was an afternoon to forget for his side who shipped 11 penaltiees, six in the first moments.

He added: "It was a disappointing game, we gave away six penalties in the first few minutes and that was a reflection of our discipline throughout the whole game.

"We were up by four with a couple of minutes to go and we've got to be better to close out that game.

"In the end we were not good enough. We have got to be hard-nosed and create more opportunities.
"I think there was a bit of complacency to be honest and that needs to be addressed."

And he said his side did not take his warnings of complacency seriously before the game.

He added: "There was a little bit of complacency there to be honest.

"There is a danger of that here and we knew that in the week. That needs to be addressed.

"We gave ourselves a chance to win the game but conceded the late try and we have to be better than that."

Former Widnes hooker Danny Walker was handed his first start at hooker and Price said Daryl Clark will be back next week after he had a 'few niggles'.

But he said his omission was no excuse.

He added: "I had confidence in Matty Davis and Danny Walker to do the job that needed to be done."

He confirmed that Wire suffered no new injuries in the game.
