He made his Wire debut last year against Wigan but has not featured this year for the first team.

"I really appreciate Warrington for loaning us Louis for the next month," Smith said. "He's a good young, enthusiastic player and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"He will add some depth - we're pretty much down to our bare 17 - and he won't be the only one, we're on the look-out."

He has played for Rochdale in the Championship and been out on loan at Widnes.

Smith said he thought Warrington were a 'bit off'.

"I'm pleased for the players and pleased for the club," Smith said. "It's been tough at times, it's tough seeing yourself sitting in a position in the table you don't want to be in.

"We're asking players to make some sacrifices and set some standards that are challenging in some ways and I'm pleased they're getting some rewards for their efforts.

"It thought it was a terrific effort across the board. I thought we dug in and found a way.

"Without taking anything away from my boys, I thought Warrington were a bit off today, but perhaps that was down to our enthusiasm, which made the opposition a bit flatter than normal."
