ACADEMY head coach Paul Anderson cut a frustrated figure as his Wire under 19s side slipped to back-to-back defeats.

Despite applying plenty of late pressure, they could not force another breakthrough against their Wakefield Trinity counterparts as the hosts held on for victory.

After The Wire had started the second half disappointingly, Jamie Abram and Ellis Longstaff scored to put them back in the game but it proved immaterial.

Eribe Doro and Reece Hamlett had crossed in the first half as the sides went into the break level at 12-12.

Anderson hit out at “inconsistencies” within his side – both on and off the field – as they prepare for a weekend without a fixture due to the final Academy Origin clash at Odsal on Saturday.

“We are really disappointed not to get anything out of the game,” he said.

“I felt we had enough chances but we have to take advantage of the opportunities we create.

“It is another learning curve for us, one that we will benefit from as a collective and as individuals in the long term.

“Overall I am really disappointed in our inconsistencies, not only within games but also with our attention to detail away from the field.”

The Wire youngsters are not in action again until Saturday, June 22, when they travel to Huddersfield Giants.
