TEENAGE full-back Josh Thewlis could be in line for his senior debut for Warrington Wolves against Catalans Dragons on Saturday.

Head coach Steve Price is mulling over his options in the outside backs after their ranks were further depleted by suspensions for Tom Lineham and Jake Mamo.

The Wire are already without Stefan Ratchford and Ryan Atkins with pectoral and hamstring injuries respectively, leaving them short in the backs for their clash with the Dragons.

Price says he has been impressed by the performances of 17-year-old Thewlis for the academy and revealed he has spent plenty of time training with the first team.

However, he says he has a number of potential solutions – he did not even rule out playing Sitaleki Akauola on the wing as he did briefly against Hull FC on May 18.

“What’s happened with Tommy and Jake is disappointing, but we’ll have to cop it and get through this week,” he said.

“We have a number of candidates to fill those spots but nothing will be decided until later in the week.

“Josh Thewlis has been doing some really good things in the academy this year.

“He’s been training with us since the pre-season – he’s in my thoughts.

“Jack Johnson did a really good job for us when he came in at Castleford earlier in the season.

“Bryson Goodwin has played full-back before, Sitaleki Akauola has played on the wing, Jack Hughes has played plenty of centre.

“I’m not worried about our options. Whoever comes in will be expected to do a good job.”

Lineham faces a three-match ban after being hit with a Grade C striking charge for the tackle on Jimmy Keinhorst that saw him sin-binned in Friday’s Challenge Cup victory at Hull KR.

Mamo will just sit out the one game as a result of a Grade B dangerous contact charge.
