THEY definitely got the pose right.

Rugby league legend Allan 'Alf' Langer, who spent two seasons with Warrington Wolves at the end of his illustrious career, was in attendance as his statue was unveiled outside Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia, earlier today.

And as the image in Wire colours shows, the artist has captured Langer's movement perfectly.

Warrington Guardian:

Fittingly, Alf will now watch over the home of some of his greatest footballing moments alongside fellow bronzed Queensland greats Wally Lewis, Arthur Beetson, Mal Meninga and Darren Lockyer.

Langer made 55 appearances for The Wire between February, 2000, and July, 2001, crossing for 16 tries and kicking four goals in the process.

His signing, even after initially hanging up his boots, was a real coup for the club after lighting up the NRL with Brisbane Broncos where he has since helped out with coaching.

And he is now on the Queensland support staff, preparing the Maroons for the start of the State of Origin series with New South Wales tomorrow at Suncorp Stadium.

He made 258 NRL appearances, played 34 State of Origin games for Queensland and 24 Tests for Australia.

"Growing up in Ipswich I was lucky enough to get a run in Origin and the (Brisbane) club I love - it's been a special career," Langer told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"I owe it all to the people who helped me along the way.

"I played rugby league since I was five years old so to have this day at 52 is pretty special - I am still pinching myself."

Langer is the fourth former Wire player to have a statue in his honour.

Brian Bevan's got pride of place at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, while Alex Murphy sits outside Wembley Stadium and John Woods has a spot at Leigh Sports Village.
