WE could have Great Britain’s next snowboarding superstar in our midst…and he is just seven years old.

Aaron Taylor Summers, who lives in Howley, is already making waves at local competitions after being spotted and sponsored by British snowsport legend Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards.

He is now sponsored to train four times a week at Chillfactore in Manchester while honing his freestyle techniques on the dry slopes of Ski Rossendale.

The St Phillips Westbrook Primary School pupil also sharpens his skills on a skateboard at the Ramp1 skatepark in Penketh.

Despite being almost a decade younger than his rivals, Aaron won an under 16s competition at Norfolk Boardercross in what has been a great start to his season.

He has also finished second in the under 12s age group at the English Boardercross Championships in Castleford and third at Kendal’s KJAM freestyle event.

“He’s such a great ambassador and makes everyone smile,” Aaron’s grandmother Jeannie Pritchard said.

“His hard work and commitment to the sport have flourished over the past few weeks – he’s developed some amazing style and talent.

“He’s training hard at the moment in preparation for his next big competition – the English championship freestyle in June, which his is greatest passion.”
