COACHES from a Warrington-based cycling club says she “could not be prouder” after several young riders shone in their latest outing.
Juniors from the North Cheshire Clarion club returned from the Isle of Man Youth Tour having secured personal bests, podium positions and even a yellow jersey.
That honour went to Frank White, who claimed victory after winning all three stages of the Youth E boys’ race.

Nine more of the club’s riders competed in the competition and coach Liesel Hacker says she would never have imagined so many excelling at such a high level.
“I couldn’t be prouder,” she said.
“The club was set up to encourage more kids into cycling and introduce them to a range of disciplines in a fun environment.
“When we started, we wanted the kids to embrace and enjoy cycling.
“We never imagined we would have so many of them competing at this level. It’s fantastic to see.”

Raphael Tabiner finished third overall in the Youth B boys’ race after winning the second stage, while clubmate Sebastian Grindley came fourth in the final stage.
John White and Simeon Kilroy rode strongly in the same race, with the latter fighting back well from mechanical issues.
In the main Youth A boys’ outing, Lachlan Hacker’s impressive effort on day two saw him finish 15th in the General Classification standings.
Betty Jones was fifth overall in the Youth E girls’ race and second in the points competition.

In the C races, Albie Jones was 10th for the boys and Matthew Hill recorded a personal best in the final stage while Lottie Kilroy represented the club in the girls’ category.
‘‘It was a fantastic weekend supporting our young riders and watching them compete and excel at national level,” club coach Chris Jones said.
“They are true ambassadors for the club and the sport and we are extremely proud of each and every one of them.”
The club holds weekly coaching sessions on Saturday mornings and accepts children from the age of 6 to 16.
