MICHELLE Davis touched down four times on debut as Warrington Wolves Women extended their winning sequence to four games.

The England winger, a Warrington girl who has joined the team from Wigan over the past week, also landed four goals in a personal haul of 24 points.

Roxy Murdoch also crossed for a hat-trick, while braces were bagged by Samantha Simpson and Rebekah Wilson as Wolves made it 158 points amassed in successive matches.

“Michelle felt as though she needed a fresh challenge," said head coach Lee Westwood.

“She’s only trained with us twice and slotted in brilliantly.

“She did really well and gives us a different dimension because she can kick goals as well.

“Michelle finished off some good plays and it’s pleasing that we have a finisher that can see the try line.

“Sally Conyers, her centre, got man of the match which was brilliant.

“Sally’s not got a rugby league background. Michelle gave her a few tips and encouragement and she ended up with man of the match after assisting with three tries.

“Hopefully that partnership will just get better and better as we progress."

Warrington remain second in the Championship behind unbeaten leaders Leigh Miners Rangers.

“We’re playing very well at the minute, playing with some confidence," said Westwood.

“Everything we’re working on - on the training field - is paying off at the minute.

"Some of the tries were pretty easy, but some they scored by playing into space which is what we want from them.

“It’s not so much being structured but playing into space and they’re getting to understand that now.

“The zero conceded was as pleasing as the big score.

"Working on the defence was the main focus from the start of coming together and it’s starting to pay off. Teams are struggling against us.”

The women will be next in action away to Barrow in the second round of the Challenge Cup on Sunday, May 26, kick off 2pm.
