“WE will not stop.”

That was the warning Warrington Town striker Josh Amis sent out to ‘super play-off’ opponents King’s Lynn Town ahead of Saturday’s promotion showdown.

Yellows welcome the Linnets to Cantilever Park in the knowledge that victory will see them play in the National League North – the highest level in their history – next season.

Amis, who came off the bench to score the winner in Saturday’s Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off final win over South Shields, stressed the importance of being mentally ready for what is coming their way.

However, he also feels they have the right blend of youth and experience in the dressing room to see them through.

“We don’t stop – you only need to look at the amount of last-minute winners or equalisers we’ve scored to see that,” he said.

“We’ve nicked points and we’ve deserved them a lot of the time.

“The lads have been brilliant – the team spirit we have is unreal.

“The older lads like Mark Roberts, Dave Raven and Tony Gray are pulling us along with their experience and we’ve got younger guys who are eager.

“It’s not job over by a long shot.

“It’s a great feeling to get through to this super play-off – if a little bit weird as it’s never happened before.

“We’ve still got a job to do – we’ll have the full week to prepare and we’ll have to be mentally ready for what’s coming on Saturday.”

The timing of Amis’ return from a hamstring injury was opportune as he made a telling difference to get Yellows to this point.

His goal three minutes from time stunned South Shields and capped a physical display from the target man.

To say it has been a season of peaks and troughs for Amis would be accurate – he struggled for fitness and form at the start of the season before a purple patch at the turn of the year.

Saturday’s goal was his 14th of the season, but his first since February.

“Saturday was a bit of a crowning moment for me,” he said.

“It was clear to see I wasn’t fit enough in the first half of the season. I really did try and work hard to get back into shape.

“When I did, the games kept coming and the goals kept coming.

“With games coming thick and fast, my body didn’t really take it too well.

“I’ve had a few injuries that I’ve had to work back from but I’m made up to be where I am now.”

The Warrington Guardian will be providing live coverage of Saturday's game.

Sports reporter Matt Turner will be at Cantilever Park and his live blog - featuring build-up, match action and post-match reaction from the Yellows camp - will be live from around 2pm.
