Wigan St Judes 41 Crosfields 30

AFTER watching his Crosfields side beaten in a high-scoring encounter, head coach Ian Boden concluded that Wigan St Judes “desired the victory more.”

It is now three defeats in four National Conference League Division Two games for Soap, for whom skipper Jack Reid scored two tries and kicked five goals.

Hayden James, Tom Brown and Jordan Williams were also on the scoresheet for the Hood Lane side but ultimately, their efforts were in vain.

Boden said his side presented their hosts with “an open door” to their try line and was not surprised by them taking advantage.

“I thought we started well, but we let ourselves down with mistakes and sloppy defending,” he said.

“If you allow a team like St Judes an open door to score at will, they are going to take full advantage of it.

“We can't blame the conditions, they were perfect.

“I just think they desired the win more on the day."

Soap aim to bounce back at home on Saturday when they welcome Shaw Cross Sharks to Hood Lane, kick off 2.30pm.
