Woolston Rovers 82 Gateshead Storm 6

LEWIS Turner enjoyed a fine debut to help Woolston Rovers to the top of National Conference League Division Three.

The former Warrington Wolves academy winger crossed five times in a 16-try thrashing of Gateshead Storm, with Ben Dixon and Lewis Hoarty both scoring hat-tricks.

Justin Becker added two tries in a scintillating Rovers display at Monk Sports Club, with Ryan Brown, Aaron Barber and Theo Holt also crossing.

With his side now leading the table on points difference, head coach Mal Holt described his side’s performance as “near perfect.”

“Everything we did clicked into place and we were dominant from start to finish,” he said.

“We said in the sheds before the game that we wanted a big win to put is on top of the table and we certainly got that with a very impressive display.

“The attitude of the boys was fantastic and although we posted so many points, they were disappointed to concede the one try.

“Lewis Turner scored five on his club debut and looks to be a very good signing for us at this stage of the season.

“The confidence in the camp is high and we now need to stay where we are.”
