PAUL Carden says today’s trip to South Shields in the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off final should hold no fear for his side.

Yellows booked their place with a superb 4-1 victory over Nantwich Town at Cantilever Park on Tuesday night, with the Mariners doing likewise by beating Buxton 4-2.

Both league meetings between the sides this season ended in Warrington victories – Carden’s men were the only visiting team to win at Mariners Park – but Shields finished three points above Town in the final table.

They may have had to give up home advantage but the Town boss says the dressing room is full of belief and desire.

> 'Experience will help keep Yellows' feet on the ground,' says semi-final hero

“It’s a game that shouldn’t hold any fear for us,” he said.

“They’ve got a great home record and they’ve been up there for most of the season alongside us.

“We’ve had two great games with them and both have been very tight – we beat them 3-0 at home but it was a compelling game.

“They’ve got a good side – they’re well followed and are geared to go places, but we can go places ourselves, especially if we play like we did on Tuesday.

“We’ve shown passion and desire all season. There haven’t been many games this season in which we’ve come away having lacked desire.

“It’s always been there and the way the dressing room is, it always will be.”

Whoever wins the tie will face the play-off winners from the Evo-Stik South Division Central at home on Saturday, May 11, for the final place in next season’s National League North.

The Warrington Guardian will be providing live coverage of this afternoon's game.

Sports reporter Matt Turner will be at Mariner's Park and his live blog - featuring build-up, match action and post-match reaction from the Yellows camp - will be live from around 2pm.
