Burtonwood Bridge 14 Wigan Spring View 22
BURTONWOOD Bridge’s chances of progress in the North West Cup fell at the first hurdle on Saturday.
However, in a fortunate quirk with the fixtures, Bridge will get the opportunity to exact revenge on Wigan Spring View in North West Men’s League Division Three on Saturday.
The game was tied at 14-14 going into the final stages at Fir Tree Lane, with Oli Morrissey, Aidan Doyle and Tom Unsworth scoring Bridge’s tries while one conversion came from the boot of Jos Woods.
Unfortunately though, last year’s Division Four champions kicked a penalty to edge in front before a breakaway try sealed their progression.
Saturday’s league fixture at Fir Tree Lane kicks off at 2.30pm.
Burtonwood: Craig Holcroft; Jack Campbell, Aidan Doyle, Scott Chambers, Oli Morrissey; Connor Davies, Jos Woods; Jacob Almond, Dan Hart, Rikki St Pier, Jack O’Neill, Tom Unsworth, Adam Morris. Subs: Dave Gordon, Kieran Sudlow, Jack Graham, Sam Woodall
