WHAT the Warrington Wolves head coach Steve Price had to say about Joe Philbin upon his contract extension to the end of 2021.

Price initially talked about the 24-year-old Warringtonian starting matches in the past two weeks, having made his name so far as an impact prop off the bench:

“We’re going to have to get him into that starting prop role in coming weeks too.

"It’s a long season and over the past two weeks I think he’s done a really good job starting.

“He’s like a little bowling ball at the moment. He can cart that ball and he’s finding a really good niche in that middle.

“He does everything at high speed. There’s no second and third gear for Joe, which I really like.

"When you see the big fella getting off the back fence it’s quite exciting.

“I’ve seen a big change in him, especially defensively. He’s improved his game there.

“I’m just really pleased for him.

"He works extremely hard within our organisation to be the best player he can become.

“Around the place he’s very likeable, he’s a good guy to coach.

“Joe is a local lad and I love everything he stands for. He’s a quality person as well as player who has a big impact up front for us, and there’s still much more to come from Joe.

"He is great to have within the squad and is always full of beans. All the lads love playing alongside him.”
