CONTRACT extensions for Tom Lineham, Joe Philbin and Toby King is confirmation of Warrington Wolves putting plans in place for a strong future.

The trio, whose current deals were all set to end in November, are now tied to the club until the end of 2021.

“They’re now part of the club for years to come," said Wolves head coach Steve Price.

"It’s great news for the club. They’re important members of our team.

“I wanted to keep them. They’re terrific players but also really good genuine people and that’s what I want at our club.

"We’ve got a lot of experienced players at the back end of their career, and now we’re tying up a lot of those good young kids.

"Having Joe Philbin, Tom Lineham and Toby King extend their stay is putting the club in really good shape for years to come."

With nine other players out of contract at the end of the year, these deals put down a marker.

“You’ve got to be consistent, doing things correctly on a regular basis and I see all those guys driving good standards," added Price.

“They’re players that all players love playing with and that says a lot about them as people and their characters.

“It’s exciting for all three to put pen to paper.

"They are all young players who love being around this squad.

"We’ve got a fantastic playing group here and we want to secure that core squad for years to come.

"It’s about developing an environment and culture that players want to be a part of.”

Lineham, 26, who hails from Leeds, made a two-try return to the side in Friday's 63-12 victory over his former club Hull FC at the KCOM Stadium, taking his tally to 63 tries in 88 appearances since his debut in 2016.

Warrington-born prop Philbin, 24, has progressed through the club’s academy system and is now only three appearances away from 100 at first-team level since making his debut in 2014.

King, who is based in Huddersfield, has a similar academy history and the 22-year-old has now been in and around the first-team squad for six years.

“They’re at a perfect age," said Price.

"They still haven’t hit their peak yet.

"There’s so much more growth in all three of them."
