ON what should have been the original Brexit Day, we look back in history at some Warrington Wolves games that have taken place on this day.
A case of Br-exit (1948):
Well more like Br(ian)-exit, as wonder winger Brian Bevan LEFT the Leigh defence in ‘tatters’ scoring an incredible Warrington record of seven tries out of the eight in a 28-8 win.
Clarke to the rescue (2005):
Not Kenneth, but hooker Jon Clarke, playing in an unaccustomed role of loose forward, as his three tries helped Warrington to a 44-12 crushing of near neighbours Widnes Vikings.
Time to LEAVE (2009):
Record signing centre Martin Gleeson played his last game for the club, in a 27-22 win over Crusaders. Gleeson signed for Wigan Warriors the following week.
No need to LEAVE early:
Of the 14 games we have played on this day since the World War Two, Wire have won nine.
