CHRIS Chester says his Wakefield Trinity side will “be physical” with The Wire when they meet tomorrow.

The Wire’s only defeat so far in 2019 came when Catalans Dragons outmuscled them and ground their way to a 23-22 victory in Perpignan.

Chester, who has seen his side lose their past three home games against Warrington, believes the French side have shown the blueprint for how to beat Steve Price’s men.

However, he admits his side are “up against it” after star left-edge duo Tom Johnstone and Bill Tupou joined the likes of Tyler Randell, Craig Huby and James Batchelor on Trinity’s injury list.

“They’ve got some fantastic individuals and they are playing very well as a team, but I think Catalans showed everybody the way to beat them,” he said.

“You’ve got to be physical with them and front up.

“We’re a tough team to beat. We’ll take a lot of confidence from the way we defended last week.

“We changed a few things defensively and they seemed to work. Hopefully they will continue to work on Thursday night.

“We’ll be up against it because they are a form team in the competition and we’re down a few bodies, but there’s no reason why we can’t come away with a result.”

To add to injuries to Tupou and Johnstone, who is expected to sit out the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury, Wakefield have also lost Danny Kirmond to a two-match suspension.

They have brought Keegan Hirst, Jordan Baldwinson, Max Jowitt and ex-Wire George King into their 19-man squad.
