MIKE Cooper says he and Chris Hill are enjoying their new ball-playing responsibilities for The Wire.

Both prop forwards have shown some exceptional handling skills in the opening weeks of the 2019 campaign, with the two linking up perfectly for Cooper to score against Hull Kingston Rovers last month.

Against Catalans Dragons, some soft Cooper hands sent Hill charging through the line before the Wire skipper produced an outrageous flicked offload to send Dec Patton over the whitewash.

So, does a position change beckon for the front-row duo? And will they take the creative side of their game one step further against Wigan Warriors tomorrow, Friday?

“We’ve been winding everyone up with our ball skills,” Cooper joked.

“We’re showing how it’s done, squaring people up and passing the ball. We keep telling Blake (Austin) and Dec (Patton) to stay inside of us and we’ll do the rest!

“There is a running joke between us that one day, one of us is going to put a big high kick up and see how it goes.

“We like doing all that, but the hard yards, the tackling and the line speed is the stuff we really enjoy. That’s what I think we’re pretty good at.”
