Crosfields 33 Bradford Dudley Hill 20

IAN Boden declared himself “a very happy coach” as his Crosfields side kicked off their season in style.

Nathan Taylor scored a hat-trick of tries as Soap saw off recently-relegated Bradford Dudley Hill at Hood Lane.

Luke Walker and Hayden James also crossed the whitewash along with man of the match Jack Reid, who also kicked four conversions, while Jack Lewis slotted a drop goal for the home side.

To complete an excellent day for the Great Sankey outfit, the A team got their campaign off to a superb start by thrashing Eccleston Lions 52-4.

“I'm a very happy coach, both teams have been rewarded for their hard work during the close-season,” Boden said.

“BDH came with a game plan and we were finding it hard to gain a foothold after losing our 12-point lead.

“Credit to the lads – they stuck it out in the middle and fitness told in the end.

“Jack Reid was brilliant and well worthy of the man of the match.”
