GREY Mist Mere is producing more tench for members that enjoy catching these olive-green beauties.

I chatted on Thursday afternoon to Steve Roffey, who had already caught five, and after a dropped run he was into another one - this time a male that weighed 6-14-0.

We were watching it swim away when his other rod attracted a female of 6-4-0.

I also noticed members observing John Bibby playing a good fish adjacent to the car park naturally I stopped to see the result.

It wasn’t long before a cracking carp lay in the net weighing 18lbs on the nose.

Neil Plunkett opted to visit Rixton Claypits, where good sport has been consistent on recent visits.

He set up a quiver tip with his reel loaded with 6lbs main line, a 3lbs hook-length and groundbait feeder with double maggot on a size 16 hook.

His first fish was a bream of 4lbs followed by eight tench, the smallest 3½ lbs and the largest at 5lbs.

John Green put 20 roach to 6ozs on the scales, taken on feeder and maggot, to secure top spot in our Mersey Series match at Mersey Walk on Sunday.

He added another 17 smaller ones using pole and maggot for a total haul of 5-12-0.

Derek Bibby recorded a win after our disabled and over 60s match at Hough's Bridge on Monday after landing 5-5-2 of small roach and perch taken on pole and pinkie.

At least one angler broke the small-fish mould with a bonus bream of 2lbs.

It wasn't a monster, but was still more than welcome when added to 2lbs of roach.
