FOUR Woolston Rovers icons have been inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame.
Members old and young came together for the club’s Hall of Fame dinner on Saturday to celebrate the contributions of Peter Astley, Brian Chambers, Keith Gatley and Colin Thackeray to the Green and Golds.
The quartet join the 13 inaugural members who were inducted last year.
Club committee member Liam Horrigan said: “We had a wonderful evening celebrating with some fabulous people, each of whom have made a significant contribution to the growth of Woolston Rovers.
“To have so many of our junior players there was also very special and showed what a united club can achieve.”
Auctions and raffles also took place at the dinner – held at Warrington’s Masonic Hall – to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House charity and in memory of Rachael Thomson, the mother of one of Woolston’s under 11s players who recently lost her battle with cancer.
The dinner also featured a short talk from former Super League referee Karl Kirkpatrick and music from DJ Dave Taylor.
