WARRINGTON Town have successfully appealed a red card shown to defender Evan Gumbs.

The on-loan Tranmere man was sent off in the 2-1 victory over Witton Albion on Boxing Day, with referee Jonathan Maskrey claiming he used excessive force in a tackle on Albion striker Rob Hopley.

After reviewing video footage of the tackle, Town decided to challenge the decision and the ruling has fallen in their favour.

Gumbs was due to face a three-match ban, which would have ruled him out of tomorrow's home game against Bamber Bridge and trips to Farsley Celtic and Scarborough Athletic.

However, the 21-year-old defender is now available for selection.
