LYMM Hockey Club’s men’s first team continue their assault on the North West Hockey League title as they comfortably saw off Winnington Park on Saturday.
Their 3-0 victory was their fifth in a row and ensures they go into the Christmas break third in Division One – just two points behind leading pair Keswick and City of Manchester.
Elsewhere, the women’s firsts at Warrington Hockey Club extended their winning streak to five matches as they beat Bowdon fourths.
Sally Froggatt opened the scoring early on as Warrington dominated the first half, and their continued pressure brought more success as Steph Rawlins doubled their lead.
Bowdon did manage to get on the scoresheet, but Warrington closed out a 2-1 victory.
Warrington’s men’s seconds ended a run of three straight defeats with a crushing home win over Neston.
Ben Vickers and Gavin Brown were both on the scoresheet in an impressive, disciplined Warrington display as they won 6-1.
Goalkeeper Tish Edwards put in a player-of-the-match display for the women’s seconds as she kept Whitchurch at bay early on, but her teammates could not capitalise as they fell to a 6-0 defeat.
