Village Spartans 20 Moore 55

DESPITE only being able to send a squad of 16 players to Village Spartans on Saturday, Moore were still able to win their third game on the bounce.

An excellent first-half display laid the foundations for the Moss Lane side, with Joe Pidgeon, Tony Fretwell, Tom Banks and Mike Barr crossing before the break to ensure they turned around for the second period with a 26-5 lead.

The hosts did get the first score of the second half, but Moore picked up where they left off with some excellent flowing rugby as Mikey Woollacott grabbed his first try of the season.

Fretwell and Pidgeon both added their second tries, while fly-half Matt Bradshaw had an excellent game with the boot as he kicked six conversions and a penalty.

Moore climb to fifth in the North West Intermediate League Division Three South and welcome Glossop’s thirds – who sit bottom – to Moss Lane on Saturday, kick off 2.15pm.
