DAVE Yii is urging players to buy into the system under new coaches at Latchford Albion.

The fresh look sees Yii, in his fifth year at the club, joined by new recruit Dave Rudd as assistant coaches under new boss Martyn Ellis as pre-season training gets underway on Thursday at Victoria Park.

Last year Yii was head coach of the second string while also assisting with the first team.

Ellis is keen to call on Yii’s club experience, while also bringing in Rudd for further support.

Rudd, who has been coaching for more than 20 years, joins Albion from Leigh East and has previously worked alongside Ellis at Leigh Centurions on a highly successful scholarship scheme.

“The new coaching set-up is really positive for the club,” said Yii.

“Both Martyn and Dave have ambitions which are fully achievable with the squad we have.

“If the players buy into this system, and put the effort in, we are looking at a really successful season, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Rudd said: “Martyn and I share the same core values and have a huge passion for the game.

“Our aim is for this to spread throughout the whole club structure, and for players to commit to this ahead of the forthcoming season. If we all work together we will reap the rewards.”

All players of all ages and ability are welcome at training. Contact the club via its social media outlets, head coach Martyn Ellis on 07976 77563 or chairman Mike Byron on 07769 788995 for more details.
