THE women’s second team at Warrington Hockey Club celebrated their first victory of the campaign on Saturday.

Becky Green and Ealish Green led the way as they were 3-2 winners over Neston’s thirds, ending a run of seven straight defeats to kickstart their season.

Elsewhere, the women’s firsts were on the wrong side of the same scoreline against Neston’s seconds at Priestley College.

Having fallen 2-0 down early, Warrington battled back to draw level through Steph Rawlins but a goal in the final seconds gave Neston the victory.

The men’s firsts started strongly against Preston’s fourths, with goals from Rob Powell and Adam Garrod allowing them to be on level terms for much of the game.

However, they collapsed with 15 minutes left and went on to suffer a 5-2 defeat while the men’s seconds were beaten 2-1 by Bebington’s thirds.
