AFTER drawing 0-0 in the Wirral DFA Amateur Cup second round Nelson FC progressed following a penalty shoot-out that saw keeper Tom Rutter saving two of the spot-kicks against Lions FC which enabled his team to win 3-1.

PLCCFC stumped the ambitions of Upton Town when running out 3-0 winners thanks to efforts from Brett Fitzsimmons, Jordan Roberts and Anton Jolley. Not so lucky were Upton FC who went down 2-1 versus AFC Shaftesbury despite Jamie Battle grabbing a good goal.

Also eliminated were JASGA PV as they went down 3-1 against Shaftesbury Youth and only had a Kieran McCabe goal to celebrate.

Two fixtures took place in the First division and saw Poulton Vics claim spot after their hard-fought 4-3 victory over St Andrews United due to an own goal and singles from Graham Edge, Sean Gandy and Karl Barker, with James Scott, Matty Threlfall and Tom Jefferey bagging the replies.

Also 4-3 victors were Liver View who saw their way past Queens Liscard with Ken Simon, Adam Hannigan and Eddie Williams scoring for Queens.

Second division action saw late entrants Runcorn Select entertain table toppers Trident and they gave the leaders a run for their money, despite going down 2-1.

Stephen Teale gave Trident an early lead but Jack Davies levelled before a late Matty Madden goal sealed the points.

Joe Cooper netted for Halfway House as they beat North Wirral Saints 2-1 to remain second.

A solitary goal from Tapiwa Chiwawa was not enough for Barnston PV as they lost 2-1 versus Vineyard, whose scorer was Reece Howell-Pratt with a brace.

Martin Marshall bagged his usual goal, but Eastham Rangers lost their derby fixture versus Eastham Rangers Colts 3-1.

Wallasey Wanderers recorded their first success of the season in the Dundee Youth division when beating the leaders Park Royal 1-0 as Ollie Lowe fired the winner.

Glenavon Athletic also won 1-0 with an effort from Leighton Clarke to put them level on points at the top, but bagging their second win were Eastham Rangers Jets who flew past New Ferry Rangers with a 7-3 victory with both Dan McEntee and Jordan Lee Major netting hat-tricks and Alex Hill firing a single.

Hitting the responses were Jack Ward (2) and Ryan Jones.

Twenty goals in the Grove Youth division saw ACA Sports dampen Phoenix the Flames in a 9-0 victory which moved them up into third place, but claiming pole position are Delta Colts Parkfield as they out scored Upton Youth for a 5-3 win thanks to a treble from Frank Ward and singles from Lewis Ward and Chris Garland.

Joel Hunter, Charlie McDowell and Brendan Doherty netted for Upton. Young Lions roared past AC Hoylake with a 3-0 win as Josh Thelwell, Will McParland and Callum Bennett found the net.
