Warrington 48 Manchester 22

A SUPERB second-half display saw Warrington run in seven tries to stun Manchester at Walton Lea.

Andy Roberts’ side were 10-7 down at the interval – with Steve Pilkington on the scoresheet for the hosts – but they eventually cantered to a bonus-point success.

Kieron Hughes scored three of Warrington’s second-half tries, with Dan Norman, Nathan Beesley and Tom McEniff also getting in on the act.

Fittingly, prop Clem O’Rourke finished off the scoring with a barnstorming try to mark his 100th Warrington appearance in style.

After the game, Roberts says their level of performance after the break would see them match any side in the North One West.

“We took an age to wake up against a competent side,” he said.

“However, when we did, we were impressive.

“Our back play will match most in this league when we’re on song.”

Warrington, who sit seventh in the table, travel to Firwood Waterloo on Saturday.
