RUGBY League will continue to be a part of Rylands Recreation Club “for the long-term future”
Members of the Rylands rugby junior and senior sections have unanimously voted to continue as members of the club, thus securing the sport’s future at Gorsey Lane.
Sports agent Paul Stretford’s takeover of the club has resulted in a significant investment in facilities in order to allow Rylands FC to join the North West Counties League.
However, an upshot of the developments have been the loss of cricket and bowls from the club.
There was uncertainty about the future of rugby league, but the club have moved to assure followers of Rylands Sharks that Gorsey Lane will remain their home.
A statement from Rylands Recreation Club read: “Following a period of uncertainty, members of Rylands Rugby junior and senior sections have voted unanimously to continue as members of Rylands Recreation Club.
“The decision ensures that both rugby and football will continue at Rylands Recreation Club for the long term future, as it has done throughout the 100+ year history of the club.”
⚽️🏉 All of us at Rylands Football Club are delighted to hear that the Rugby junior and senior sections will be continuing with us at Rylands Recreation Club.
