TOM Lineham is free to play in Warrington Wolves' Super League semi-final against St Helens.

An independent operational rules tribunal has upheld Lineham's appeal against the grading of the high tackle on Wigan’s Dom Manfredi which saw him sin-binned during the 26-6 defeat to The Warriors on September 14.

The offence has been downgraded to a Grade B and thus a two-game suspension

He served the first of those games in the 34-14 defeat to St Helens on Saturday and will complete his ban against Wakefield on Friday, meaning he is free to return for the semi-final in nine days' time

Meanwhile, no charges have been handed out by the RFL’s Match Review Panel following The Wire’s bad-tempered defeat to Saints at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday.

Matty Lees was sin-binned after his thigh made contact with the skull of a grounded Tyrone Roberts, but the panel were satisfied the contact was accidental and thus the Saints prop has escaped a ban.

Ryan Atkins and St Helens centre Mark Percival were also yellow-carded for their part in the mass brawl that ensued from Lees’ challenge, but neither will face further action.

Ben Westwood will not be punished further for his late tackle on Danny Richardson, and neither will Mike Cooper after his 10th-minute contact on James Bentley, who had already dropped the ball, was examined further.
