STEVE Price says replacing Tom Lineham on The Wire’s left wing is “not a major issue” ahead of their final home game of the season against St Helens tomorrow.

Lineham is serving the first of a three-match ban after being sin-binned in Friday’s 26-6 defeat at Wigan Warriors.

Wolves have appealed against the decision to categorise the winger’s high tackle on Wigan’s Dom Manfredi from Grade C and thus reduce the length of his ban.

However, that appeal will not be heard until next week and with potential wing replacements Mitch Brown (knee) and Jack Johnson (broken leg) both injured, it leaves Price with a selection dilemma.

Centre Bryson Goodwin, who has played extensively on the wing during his NRL career, appears the favourite to fill Lineham’s spot, with Toby King moving to left centre.

Ryan Atkins and Ben Pomeroy are also contenders and Price says a final decision will not be made until later today.

“We’re still tinkering with a few things at the moment with the outside backs,” he told the Guardian.

“I’ll make a final decision on Friday, but I’m confident that whoever I put out there will do a good job.

“Bryson would not let us down, but neither would a few other options we’re considering.

“It’s not a major issue. Whoever we put out there will have a red-hot crack.

“We’re confident we’ll put a good case forward for Tom. It’s up to the powers-that-be to adjudicate after that.”

By the time tomorrow’s game kicks off, the two sides could be confirmed as facing each other at the Totally Wicked Stadium in the Super League semi-finals, depending on Castleford’s result against Wakefield tonight.

However, Price says that will have no impact on his thinking in terms of team selection on Saturday.

He says the players are more focused on putting in a “hard-nosed” performance as they play in front of their home crowd for the final time in 2018.

“It’s not about St Helens, it’s about us,” he said.

“We know what they’re going to throw at us. It’s just a case of trying to stop it.

“We just want to use the game to keep growing the belief and confidence in the group.

“That’s all we’re driven by at the moment. We cannot look too much at the big picture.

“Our fans and members have been a great support to us all season, so it’s important we wrap up the home campaign with a good, hard-nosed performance.”

“Coaching there has been everything I had hoped for and more.

“It’s the best pitch in Super League. Mel Jones, our groundsman, does a great job to maintain it each week.

“The fans back us each and every week and it’s a big thank you to them on behalf of the football club.”
