GREENALLS Padgate St Oswalds hit back from 2-0 down at half time to progress in the Liverpool Cup.

A tough New Street side were eventually defeated 4-2 as Greenalls made it three wins on the trot.

Key to their win was the team's character and sticking to the game plan of 'playing football'.

Ben McWilliams poked home after latching on to a Tom Kirkpatrick through ball and levelled matters when he got to Luke Fisher's cross before the goalkeeper.

His hat trick was completed with a left footed strike after a bit of chaos in the opposition box caused the ball to be loose.

When substitute Euan Woods was brought down inside the box McWilliams sealed the victory with his fourth goal.

Greenalls return to league action at Congleton VR FC on Saturday.

The reserves, however, were on the wrong side of a 2-0 scoreline against Vulcan Reserves.

They have a home tie against West Garth FC in the Liverpool Junior Cup on Saturday.
