WARRINGTON TOWN “carried out the plan to a tee” during tonight’s 2-0 win over Hyde United, manager Paul Carden said.

Adam Hughes and Jack Mackreth struck early on for Yellows at Ewen Fields and they managed the game superbly to close out their fourth win in a row.

They were rarely troubled by the hosts, who had Ross Daly sent off on the hour mark, and another clean sheet also means they have now played 619 minutes of football since they last conceded a goal.

Carden said they had to tweak certain things within their system to adapt to Hyde’s style of play but was pleased with how centre-halves Mark Roberts and Dave Raven were able to avoid being pulled out of position.

“It was made to look easy because we worked hard,” he said.

“We had them watched and we knew how they were going to play.

“It’s not just about the graft we put in, but the game nous and how we follow instructions.

“The shape that we play has to be tweaked at different times to accommodate the opposition’s strengths and we did that tonight.

“I thought we carried the plan out to a tee and were more than worthy winners.

“In these games in which teams want to pull experienced centre-halves apart because they haven’t quite got the pace, it is important to keep them in the shape.

“When you’ve got the strength and energy Beels (Shaun Beeley) and Ben (Garrity) have, they can go and contest the first ball with the striker so Mark Roberts and Dave Raven don’t have to go anywhere.

“The lads take on the instructions and execute things to a tee, which is why we have such a good shape and why we break well from the shape.

“Their lad getting sent off made managing the game a little easier.

“The subs that came on played their part as well.

“We didn’t want to give too much away and wanted to remain solid, which we did. It was a full squad effort tonight.”
