Hyde United 0 Warrington Town 2

YELLOWS kept their sixth clean sheet in a row as they comfortably saw off Hyde United on Tuesday night.

Adam Hughes and Jack Mackreth scored inside the first 10 minutes to put Yellows in command at Ewen Fields before the hosts had Ross Daly sent off on the hour, pretty much ending any chance of a comeback.

Victory means Paul Carden’s side have now won four games running in all competitions and they have now played 619 minutes of football since they last conceded a goal.

The hosts slightly edged the early knockings, but were hit by a moment of quality to break the deadlock.

Yellows were awarded a free kick on the right corner of the box and Hughes stepped up to curl it sweetly into the far corner.

If that stunned the hosts, they were truly shellshocked just four minutes later.

Josh Amis won a second ball and nodded the ball onto Mackreth, who held off a defender and ignored Tony Gray’s screams for a pass to drill the ball home.

The hosts looked incredibly shaky at the back, disturbed by Amis’ power, Gray’s ingenuity and the pace of Mackreth and Dylan Vassallo.

Goalkeeper Peter Crook almost handed Town a third goal when he dropped a regulation catch from Vassallo’s ball into the area but dived on the ball before Shaun Beeley could pounce.

At the other end, there was one moment of alarm for the Yellows defence as Kyle Harrison overlapped and got in behind, but his cross was snuffed out.

Barely a minute after the second half kicked off, Yellows had a major scare as Hughes and goalkeeper Tony McMillan left the ball for one another inside the six-yard box.

Karl Jones nipped in and poked the ball goalwards, but Hughes got back just in time to scramble it off the line.

Yellows saw out an early Hyde burst before creating another chance of their own, with Mackreth again blazing past his marker before dragging a shot wide of the post.

Then came a decisive moment as the hosts were reduced to 10 men as Daly was dismissed for an innocuous-looking challenge on Gray, with referee David Croft quick to produce the red card.

Town were controlling the game expertly, denying Hyde any sniff of a chance and almost monopolising possession.

It was that level of game management that allowed them to see out the game with no further alarm.
