WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden admits he was happy to take a point from Monday’s goalless draw with Bamber Bridge.

The stalemate was Town’s second 0-0 draw in the space of three days and the third time in four league games that Yellows have failed to score.

They were thankful to Bridge’s Adam Dodd missing a penalty and a few fine saves from goalkeeper Tony McMillan to keep them in the game at some points.

Carden concedes his side were outplayed for the majority of the game but also says Yellows had the better of the chances in the end.

“I think it’s a point we’re happy to take,” he told the Guardian.

“On Saturday against Stalybridge, we dropped two but you have to say we gained one yesterday.

“They were the better team for an hour. They looked more composed and had more control.

“We looked like a team that hadn’t played together a lot, which we haven’t.

“That was a telling factor, they had a lot of the play and a lot of chances. Tony Mac has made a great save in the first few minutes.

“After an hour, we found a bit of rhythm and a way of working the game out to get us back in it.

“We started creating chances and we looked half like I know we will be.

“They’ve had more chances, but taking the penalty away from it we have probably had the better chances.

“We could have won it at the end, but it probably would have been a smash and grab.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s trip to North Ferriby United, kick off 3pm, Carden says two vital players will finally be available to him.

Defender Dave Raven and forward Jack Mackreth have been forced to watch from the stands due to a delay in them receiving international clearance.

However, Raven is now clear to play and the Town boss says Mackreth’s situation will be resolved “imminently.”

“I’ve never known anything like it,” he said.

“I don’t know what the Welsh FA get out of not doing things quickly.

“It’s taken the maximum amount of time to get Dave’s out. It’s a maximum of 30 days before it becomes automatic.

“We’ve got a login now from the FA to do international clearance which should hopefully make things quicker.

“We have now got Jack’s clearance back off the Welsh FA.

“It’s with the English FA now and they only have to send an e-mail confirming it, which should happen imminently.”
