TOBY King left the Wembley changing rooms and said: "It’s probably nothing short than the worst feeling in my life."

And he was comparing Saturday's Challenge Cup Final loss to the heartbreak suffered in the 2016 showdown with Hull as well as the Grand Final defeat to Wigan at Old Trafford.

Wire’s Wembley heartbreak, as it happened

“I think it’s harder to take than last time, although the last time we also lost.

“I probably feel like this because of the way we didn’t execute our game plan.

“We didn’t pay enough attention to detail during the game. We came here with a job to do and we just didn’t perform.

“We know we’re better than that but we didn’t deliver on the big stage.

“When my brother George scored a try to make it 20-12 I thought we would kick on from there.

“We never give up, which is part of our DNA, we’ll always try to the last minute.

“I think Catalans played really well and showed some real desire to stop us scoring.

“We were on the end of some tough calls, and it was just one of them things we couldn’t break them down.

“We gave everything we had but just came up short.

“The coaches were just saying that we came here with a game plan and didn’t execute it.

“It’s just not good enough, we need to pay more attention to detail.

“I’m really pleased for my brother scoring at Wembley, that’s something you can never take away from him.

“He deserves it and it was a chance for me and George to lift the trophy together but it was not meant to be.

“There’s still another trophy up for grabs though.

“We’re still up there in Super League and there’s another trophy to be won.

“As sad as it is, and as upset as I am, we need to dust ourselves down with this short turnaround against Hull.

“The Giants are pushing on us now so we need to win against Hull.”
