WARRINGTON Town have signed winger James Caton on loan from Darlington.

The 24-year-old has moved to Cantilever Park on a month-long deal from the National League North outfit.

Caton, who has played in the Football League for Blackpool, Accrington Stanley and Shrewsbury Town, adds to Paul Carden’s already extensive attacking options.

He started – and scored – in Yellows’ 4-2 friendly victory over Skelmersdale United on Tuesday, their penultimate pre-season game.

Town travel to Trafford in their final friendly on Saturday before they open their Evo-Stik Premier Division campaign against Farsley Celtic at Cantilever Park on August 18.

YELLOWS saw off Skelmersdale United at JMO Sports Park in a game that saw all six goals scored before half-time.

Tony Gray scored twice to go with further goals from James Caton and a triallist for Paul Carden’s side.

Town opened the scoring after just 20 seconds when Caton latched onto David Raven’s pass before lobbing the home keeper.

Dave Moore equalised for Skelmersdale just three minutes later, but by the 10th minute Yellows had hit the front again.

Mitch Duggan provided a through ball to release Gray, who beat a defender before finishing.

Ben Garrity was at the heart of things for Warrington’s third goal, providing the chance for the trialist to slot home.

Moore hit back once again for the hosts, but Gray doubled his tally after finishing off Rob Evans’ pass.
