GREENALLS PSO got off to the perfect start as the new Cheshire League season got underway on Saturday.
Ben McWilliams got the only goal for Greens as they won 1-0 away at Denton Town, poking home from close range after Mark Hughes headed goalwards.
Eagle Sports also got off on the right foot as they picked up an impressive 2-1 victory at defending champions Knutsford, with Josh Purcell and Luke Sutton on target for the Thornton Road side.
Sadly, however, Daten could not make it a clean sweep of Warrington victories in the Premier Division as they were beaten 2-1 by fellow promoted side Egerton at Charnock Road, despite taking the lead when Danny Whalley headed home Ryan Meadows’ corner.
In League One, Daniel Wilcock scored twice as Orford opened up with a 3-3 draw at Blacon Youth, with Liam McLoughlin getting the other goal.
Grappenhall Sports also shared the spoils on the road, with Connor Anderson scoring as they drew 1-1 with Halebank.
Moore United suffered a tough start to the campaign as they fell to a 4-1 loss at Ford Motors despite Jordan Rudge’s goal.
Rylands reserves won by the odd goal in seven against their Cheadle Heath Nomads counterparts, coming from 2-0 down to win 4-3.
Cheshire League fixtures, Tuesday (kick off 6.45pm):
Premier Division: Eagle Sports v Greenalls PSO
League One: Golborne Sports v Orford, Lostock Gralam v Grappenhall Sports
