WARRIORS of Warrington swimmers are representing their country this week.

A large group of the club's members have been selected by their home country to compete against the highest ranked swimmers at two separate home nations meets – Swim England and Swim Wales National Meets.

Seven are competing against the fellow highest ranking English swimmers in the Swim England event, which starts tomorrow and runs until Saturday at Ponds Forge International Swimming Pool in Sheffield.

Dan Kinsella, 15, will contest the men’s 50m and 200m breaststroke, while Millie Ravenscroft has been called up to swim in the women’s 14-year 100m breaststroke.

Alex Watkinson, 17 will tackle the 200m individual medley, 50m backstroke and 200m butterfly; Matthew Domville, 21, will feature in the 200m IM; Shannon Campbell, 20, in the 200m breaststroke; Lauren Sanders, 32, in the women’s multi-class 100m freestyle, MC 100m breaststroke and MC 400m freestyle.

Coral Farrell, 16, has been invited to swim in the women’s MC 100m breaststroke, MC 200m IM, MC 100m butterfly, and MC 100m backstroke.

Two of Warriors of Warrington’s British Championships qualifiers are appearing in the Swim Wales National Summer Meet which started today and continues until Sunday at the Welsh National Pool, Swansea.

Sister and brother Gabrielle Melbourne-Smith, 15, and Tyler Melbourne-Smith, 12, will be swimming for their Welsh club at the meet, City of Swansea Aquatics.

They were invited to swim at this national event due to their qualification times and high rankings within Swim Wales.

Gabrielle will compete in the women’s 15-year 50m and 100m backstroke, 200m and 400m freestyle, and the women’s 400 IM, while Tyler will race in the men’s 13-year 50m and 100m butterfly, 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle, 100m backstroke, and 200m IM.

Eight Warriors of Warrington national squad swimmers achieved qualifying times to also enter the Swim Wales Summer National Meet on an open basis, meaning they are not of Welsh nationality.

Dan Kinsella will swim the men’s 15-year 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly events.

Niamh Wigglesworth is racing in the women’s 13-year 200m butterfly, while Kyle Briars will compete in the men’s 12-year 1500m freestyle, 400m IM, 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 200m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke.

Millie Duncan will swim in the women’s 12-year 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle, 200m IM and 400m IM, 50m 100m and 200m butterfly.

Natasha Gayter will contend the women’s 13-year 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke races and 200m freestyle.

Sophie Weston will compete in the women’s 12-year 100m and 200m breaststroke events and the 50m and 100m backstroke.

Oliver Houghton will race in the 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke.

Rhys Croasdale, 11, will swim in the 200m freestyle, 200m IM, 100m breaststroke and 100m backstroke events in the development meet, specifically for swimmers aged 10 or 11.

A Warriors member won silverware in the Scottish Swimming Summer National Meet in Aberdeen.

Charis Davidson achieved a silver medal after finishing second in the women’s 14-year 800m freestyle final, and Shannon Topliss achieved sixth place in the women’s 15-year 200m butterfly final.
