A SUPERB comeback saw Crosfields’ under 13s claim the North West Counties Cup in dramatic style on Sunday.

The young Soap side twice trailed by 12 points, but fought back to ensure the trophy came home to Hood Lane.

“I am extremely proud of every single one of the lads,” coach Greg Pickett said.

“They have stuck together and worked hard for each other. The hard work has paid off!”

After Salford got off to a great start to go 12-0 up, Alfie Mather crossed after picking up a loose ball from a kick before Billy Kohe-Love threw an outrageous dummy to score himself, with Harrison Anders adding the extras.

However, Salford scored twice more either side of half time to put themselves firmly in control.

Back came Soap, though, and scored two tries in as many minutes through Josh Owens and Keelan Clarke, with Anders converting both to level the scores.

Salford hit the front again, but Crosfields’ winning moment came when James Leadbetter raced home from inside his own half, with Anders adding the extras to secure the victory.
