WIRE fans have reacted with cautious optimism to the news of Blake Austin’s signing for next season.
The Canberra Raiders stand-off has agreed a three-year deal with The Wire to become their marquee signing.
He joins South Sydney Rabbitohs loose forward Jason Clark and London Broncos second rower Matt Davis as new additions to Steve Price’s squad for 2019.
The overriding feeling among the supporter base was one of excitement about what Austin, who won the Dally M five eighth of the year award in 2015, can bring to The Wire.
However, there was concern that Wolves will find themselves in a similar situation to the one involving Tyrone Roberts, the man Austin is coming in to replace after he decided to leave 12 months into his lucrative three-year deal.
Here are some of the fans’ reactions:
Warrington Wolves – Warrington Guardian Facebook page:
Martyn Toft: Please Please Please don’t get homesick Blake........also.....can you kick conversions????
Andrew Johnson: What a fantastic signing top top player really excited about seeing you in our colours next year. Welcome Blake
Graham Woodall: You'll rip it up over here. Welcome to the wire.
Eileen Snowball: Welcome to the Wire Blake can't wait to see you in our colours
Christian Taylor: Fair play to Steve price bringing talent to Warrington

Alison Young: Yayyyyy!!! Welcome to him. Please stay till the end of your contract!! Pleeeaasee!
Lesley Moran I’m very happy about this signing.
Abbie Gartland: Wooo!
Andrew Dunn: Can he kick the ball over the sticks?
Neil Pearson Great signing, as long as he settles in
Stuart Wilson: Give the lad a chance for God’s sake. So much negativity, I’ve watched this guy on the NRL for a few years and he is a great signing
John Knox: Fantastic news. Looking forward to more success next season
Warrington Guardian website:
Wires71: Great signing by the club - well done.
Steviewire: Great news, looking forward to seeing him next season. Lots to play for this season. Come on Wire.
garethpjones: Fantastic signing. Well done everyone at the club.
scarlet pimpernel: Top signing and signs of moving forward. Please tell me there are no early home clauses.
Wire1991: Great signing couple more and we'll be a force next year.
Kiwi mark: Been watching this fella in the NRL since moving to Nz 12 years ago. Hes a top man off the pitch, always attending training and helping the less fortunate. Hes a fantastic player and Id go far as to say hes on comparison to the Michael Monaghan signing a few years back. Great piece of business by the Wire. To beat Melbourne to his signature really shows the commitment and work done by the poses at the club ..... massive
pennstate: What a signing for the Wire and for England too. This guy reminds me of Phil Blake, he has no fear of running the ball. At last a top class halfback with ambition, respect to those that made it happen. Its clear Steve Price wants a team with flair backed by steel, its great to get back on track and still everything to play for this year! Come on Tyrone lets show what you can do!

Let's hope he has the attitude of @kurt_gidley and embraces the differences...no "it's too cold I'm off " clause..

Love the fact he had offers to stay in the NRL but decided to come to us. Also states his partner wants to try different culture in the uk too. https://t.co/xktS8UfA4X
